In my experience, damage is a lot more consistent against Tirpitz. And honestly, I'll take that over overpenning or citadelling. It is not uncommon to see 10-20k regular penetration salvoes. That is naturally a double-edged sword as going for them means aiming for a much smaller section of the ship (resulting in more misses that could have been regular penetrations).īut what she has in citadel protection she lacks in regular penetration protection. She doesn't take citadels easily (though plunging fire does work better than other battleships of that range), but it seems that the magazines are a fair bit easier to get hits into. My experience both against as well as with the Tirpitz is that she doesn't bounce well. Other than that, you were just extremely unlucky, and I dare say that North Carolina is the better BB of the two ultimately. I seem to take most of my citadels right there, under the front guns. I can advise you to try to shoot their magazine citadel, the front one. I own Tirpitz and I have to say I never bounced a shot from a similar situation.
